Fitbit Blaze: Design

Fitbits design has always been clean and sleek. Their colours matching every personality making your fitness band into the perfect everyday accessory on your wrist.

With its newest Fitbit Blaze available in plum, blue, and black, the designers have taken pieces of their older model of the Surge, but vamped it up to look a bit more similar to that of the Apple Watch. By combining to great style, Fitbit seems to be working to take the two greatest designs out there and combine them to make something out of this world. The Fitbit Blaze is something of a bold, unisex design that can be worn by anyone, anywhere.

The Fitbit Blaze is sticking to its classic elastomer band that has been seen on their previous designs. However they do offer room for customizing with their additional two options for bands. Their Luxe Stainless Steel Link Belt, and their Luxe Leather (available in 3 colours).

Fitbit Blaze: Hardware

The Fitbit Blaze is filled with a hardware meant to last a lifetime. With a stronger than ever battery life promised to last up to 5 days, with a 2hour charge time, this watch is meant to last on the go without letting its users down. This watch contains: 1.66-inch, 240 x 180 pixel, colour touchscreen LCD covered in Gorilla Glass 3 allowing its touch screen capabilities to continue being flawless, while upgrading the original Surge design. Around the back of the screen is Fitbits original PurePulse heart rate sensor technology that is promised to deliver continuous BPM (beats per minute) heart rate readings no matter what it is you are doing.

When it comes to the active users keeping track of daily activity, diet, and sleep, there are a wide range of trackers available within the band. Using the same motion sensors are seen in the previous Fitbits, these trackers include a 3-axis accelerometer and gyroscope along with an altimeter to track elevation. On top of these is a sleep tracker meant to monitor your heart rate to make sure you’re getting the proper amount of sleep needed for a healthy lifestyle.

The only let down we can see in the hardware of the Fitbit Blaze is its lack of GPS as available in the Surge. This feature is great for the joggings and cyclist trying out new routes and not wanting to jump off their smartphones for maps. It’s also not waterproof, so beware going swimming or doing any water related activities.

Fitbit Blaze: Software

The Fitbit Blaze is dedicated to tracking any and all activities done throughout the day. Whether you are at the gym, working out outdoors, or simply doing a quick set of squats in the elevator on the way to your office- this watch has you covered. With its new SmartTrack software, it will automatically recognize and record any exercise you do.

On top of its automatic tracking, the Blaze offers an on-screen helper which will take you through each exercise step-by-step. All of your data can then at anytime be viewed on the Fitbit companion app or web portal which is available on Android, iOS and Windows 10 Smartphones.

By having the easy and quick ability to attach to your smartphone, this watch will also give you the features of displaying your mobile notifications. However, this will only work with original notifications from your phone like calls, texts and calendar alerts. Currently the software does not offer a connection to any third party apps (WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger, ect.). However what this watch does allow is a control over your smartphones music playback along with a variety of clock faces to choose from.
